Events

We pride ourselves in organising regular events throughout the year. Our events help bring books alive and give children the opportunity to meet their favourite authors, be introduced to new books or cuddle a character. Please be aware that events are very popular and you will need to book a place.

Forthcoming events:

Saturday 12th October @11 Chris Riddell Guardians of Magic event

Join us as we welcome the super-talented Book Nook hero Chris Riddell to the shop to share his new book Guardians of Magic, the first title in a brilliant new magical adventure series.

Free event but please book a place.

About the book:

For as long as anyone can remember, children have made a wish on a cloud horse, never quite believing that their wishes will come true. But times are changing. The future of magic is in danger. Enemies are working together to destroy it - especially the magic of nature and its most powerful source, The Forever Tree. Unless three brave children fight back and believe in the impossible, soon magic and the cloud horses will be gone. Zam, Phoebe and Bathsheba don't yet know how powerful they are...

Friday 1st November @11:30 Jen Campbell - Franklin and Luna and the Book of Fairy Tales

Join bestselling author Jen Campbell to hear all about dragons and the dangers of getting lost inside a good book!

It's Franklin the dragon's birthday — he's turning 606! — he thinks his friends have all forgotten... they haven't sent him any gifts. However, a secret party is being planned, and when Franklin's best friend Luna takes him to a bookshop to keep him away from all the party preparations, the pair of them are pulled (quite literally!) into a book of fairy tales. Now they're trapped inside its pages. Will they make it out in time for the party?

With interactive storytelling and a drawing activity, this event is perfect for children aged 3-7 (and any older/younger siblings who would like to tag along).

This event is free but please book your place here.

Friday 8th November @4 Fiona Woodcock and The Snow Dragon

Join illustrator Fiona Woodcock for an enchanting event with The Snow Dragon. Listen to the story, get creative with Fiona and ask her your questions. Fiona will also be decorating our shop window before the event - get your cameras ready!

This event is free but please book your place here.

About the book:

You can be late for many things in life, but you should never keep an adventure waiting... In Griselda Bone's gloomy orphanage, daydreaming is banned, skipping is forbidden and Christmas is well and truly cancelled.

But for Phoebe and her sausage dog Herb, is it possible that, just when things seem at their bleakest, magic awaits in the swirling, snow-filled air? Join them on an enchanting adventure in this beautifully moving story by the bestselling author of Sky Song and The Unmapped Chronicles, Abi Elphinstone, and renowned illustrator Fiona Woodcock.
